2017 Street Sweeping Schedule
Leaf pickup is the responsibility of the property owner. Please do not allow the leaves to accumulate in or around storm and sanitary lines. This causes the lines to become clogged or damaged, thereby resulting in maintenance and repairs. The ensuing maintenance and repairs consumes manpower and tax dollars, all of which ultimately lead to a higher cost to each taxpayer. Please utilize the following methods to remove leaves and yard debris.
A "leaf pickup" will be announced and occur during the fall months. There will be several weeks in which the City will pick up your leaves. This will occur on the non-recycling weeks of trash pickup.
To have your leaves, grass or other yard debris picked up by the City, please place the leaf or yard waste in biodegradable bags. These bags may be purchased at any local home improvement store. On occasion, we may have a limited supply on hand at the Treasurer's office.
During all other times of the year, you may still place leaves in biodegradable bags, but they will be hauled away during regular sanitation pickup.
The City does not provide leaf pickup via street sweeper or leaf vacuum. Please do not rake or sweep leaves on to the sidewalk or roadway. They will not be picked up by the City. Remember, this will lead to infrastructure problems which takes a toll on all residents of the City.
The Public Works department handles the maintenance of our City roadways. Activities include patching and repair work, maintenance and upkeep, street sweeping, snow plowing and salting, as well as a number of other items.
This section is under construction.
Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is responsible for the maintenance and paving of the following roadways. By municipal agreement, the City of Jeannette is compensated to handle snow removal on these roadways:
Brush, Trimmings and Limb chipping is available to residents every-other Wednesday, occurring on the non-recycling weeks.
This service is for trimmings only. No full tree removal. Residents are asked to stack all trimmings with the large end facing the same direction. This allows for easier loading by our public works department.
No dirt or root balls can be fed in to the chipper. Please remove any dirt or root balls prior to placing curbside. Limbs are not permitted to be larger than 6" (six inches) in circumference.
To have your brush, trimmings and small tree limbs picked up, please call the City Garage at 724.527.4023. Leave a message with your address and the location of brush (front of home, side, back, etc.).
